What the VA benefit offers
- The VA says nearly 90% of VA-backed loans are made with no down payment, and a VA loan may offer better terms than a traditional private loan, though you still need to meet credit and income requirements.
- A Certificate of Eligibility (COE) shows your lender that you qualify. You can request one online through the VA.
- VA loan types include a purchase loan, a Native American Direct Loan, an interest rate reduction refinance loan and a cash-out refinance loan.
